Lead Programmes for Leicester
Inspire Together are the local strategic lead organisation for a number of national programmes:
School Games Programme
Funded by Sport England and delivered by the Youth Sport Trust, the School Games is a framework delivered locally by a national network of 450 School Games Organisers who aspire to make a positive and meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people through sport and physical activity. Inspire Together host two School Games Organisers (SGO's) who deliver events and initiatives which are free to all schools in Leicester.
Lead Inclusion School
Delivered by Inspire Together, Crown Hills Community College has been selected by the Youth Sport Trust to be the Lead Inclusion School for Leicester, Leicestershire & Rutland.
A Lead Inclusion School is designated by the Youth Sport Trust (YST) as an expert in promoting inclusive PE and school sport for young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Selected schools act as champions in their local areas, providing advice, guidance, and training to other schools to improve their inclusive practices.
Barclays Girls' Football in Schools
Barclays Girls' Football in Schools is a nationwide programme by England Football and Barclays to provide girls with equal opportunities to play football in schools, both in physical education classes and extracurricular activities. The initiative includes the Barclays Game On programme for secondary schools, which uses football to teach life skills, and the Disney-inspired Shooting Stars programme for primary schools. The program provides resources, training for teachers, and leadership opportunities for students. Inspire Together strategically manage two partnership areas which cover all schools in Leicester.
School Rugby Manager Programme
To support the growth of rugby in schools, the RFU has established a network of School Rugby Managers (SRMs) who work with schools in their area to embed rugby into the curriculum and strengthen links with local rugby clubs. Inspire Together employ a SRM to deliver the programme in Leicester and the surrounding areas.
Across the country, 40 SRMs have helped children and young people from primary and secondary schools get involved in playing T1 Rugby.
The SRMS are in place to help introduce new state schools to rugby, with the RFU target of introducing 5,000 new state primary and secondary schools to the sport by 2027.
Tennis Foundation 'Set for the Future' Programme
Inspire Together have been successful in securing funding for 12 months to deliver an innovative programme to raise physical activity levels in primary-aged girls and pupils with SEND through fun and engaging sessions based on the skills and movements needed to play tennis.
The programme focusses on schools in East Leicester in communities that have been identified by LCC Public Health as some of the least active in the city. Sustainable links will be made to refurbished courts in parks across the city and tennis clubs looking to be more accessible to their local community. It is hoped that we can extend the programme across future years to include other areas of Leicester to capitalise on the investment of facilities and support by organisations such as Leicester City Council, the Lawn Tennis Association and 'We Do Tennis'.
