About the Leagues

The Primary Football League is an intra-school football competition originally organised and hosted by the Leicester City Primary Schools Football Association for schools across the city. At the beginning of the 2022/23 academic year Inspire Together took over the organisation of the league to ensure it kept running as the demands of coordinating a league that had grown to run on four days a week at four separate venues became too much for the small group of dedicated volunteers.

In the first year under the Inspire Together umbrella, we welcomed 62 boys' teams (mixed year 5 and 6) and as 58 girls' teams. That number has risen this year to 61 girls' teams with scope to increase these numbers further and increase the quality of playing in the coming years! This totalled around 1,300 year 5 and 6 boys and girls from across Leicester City schools all taking part in the primary league competition in a single academic year. Each year the leagues culminate in a Final's Day showcase event that welcomes the best teams from across the city. We then crown Inspire Together Champions for the Division 1 Cup Competitions and the Division 2 Plate Competitions for both boys' and girls' teams.
